Batman is a fictional superhero created by cartoonist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger in 1939. The comic book character first appeared in Detective Comics #27. The bat-man is partly inspired by other masked crime fighters like Zorro and The Shadow. Bob Kane got the idea for a "bat-man" from a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci of an ornithopter.
