Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange, MD, Ph.D., is a master of the mystical arts. Originally a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon, Strange suffered a car accident that crippled his hands. When Western medicine failed him, Strange embarked on a journey to Kamar-Taj, where he was trained by the Ancient One in the ways of magic and the multiverse. While focusing on healing his hands, Strange became embroiled in a conflict with Kaecilius and the Zealots, who worked for Dormammu and had attempted to merge Earth with the dark dimension to find eternal life. After the Ancient One's downfall and Kaecilius's defeat, Strange became the new protector of the Sanctum Sanctorum, attempting to defend Earth from other interdimensional threats.
