Marcel Theo Hall (April 8, 1964 – July 16, 2021) better known as Biz Markie, was an American rapper, DJ and producer.

Hall was born in Harlem, New York, and grew up on Long Island. He began his career in 1980 and was fairly well-known in the New York underground, but it wasn't until he joined the group Juice Crew with his friend Big Daddy Kane that he truly became known. He scored several hits with the Crew, but he also wanted to pursue a solo career. His first solo album, "Going Off," was released in 1988. The album landed on The Source's list of the 100 Best Rap Albums in 1998. His next album wasn't long in coming, appearing the following year. "The Biz Never Sleeps" became a relatively big hit. Meanwhile, Biz Markie became increasingly interested in producing and DJing, creating and producing songs for various artists, but these songs never achieved widespread popularity.

In 1991, he released the album "I Need a Haircut," which also became a relatively successful album, but it didn't lead to his global breakthrough, nor would his next album. He also lost a groundbreaking lawsuit filed by Gilbert O'Sullivan in 1991 for unauthorized sampling of his song "Alone Again (Naturally)." In 2003, he released his final studio album, "Weekend Warrior." After that, he concentrated on producing songs.
